On May 11th, a new Moog product was launched - a semi-modular analog synthesizer Grandmother, which also includes an arpeggiator, a sequencer and a spring reverb. Its design and internal organization refers to the classic modular systems from Moog, but now it is not necessary to understand the sound path of the instrument - its semi-modular structure allows you to explore the world of analog synthesis even without the knowledge of patching and, at the same time, reconnect any of the default connections.

The last week has brought a lot of interesting news for the amateurs of modular synthesizers, such as a new oscillator with waveform change functions from Pittsburgh Modular, a Link module (Evaton Technologies) for connecting several modular systems, a percussion eurorack-module Fracture, which uses granular synthesis to create a variety of percussion sounds, and new plans by Behringer.

There was the official announcement from Roland, they reported which 4 new modules will be included in the System-500 Analog Modular Synthesizer line, and also told about each of them. This will be a single synthesizer module - 510 Synth, a 5-in-1 module containing various modulation methods -  555 Lag/S&H, dual analog re-designed filter similar to the one in Roland SH-5 synthesizer in one module - 505 VCF, and 531 Mix - 6-channel modular mixer.

A small Italian company, Soundmachines, has launched a fundraising campaign for Kickstarter for production of (arches), a progressive capacitive touch controller for modular systems. The device promises a lot of opportunities for controlling several modules in parallel, as well as a flexible and ergonomic keyboard.

Recently released Stargazer from Møffenzeef Mødular is an interesting drone synthesizer, promising its users a ton of fun and no distractions like CV, MIDI and other complex things.
