D-20 is a 32-voice polyphonic synthesizer based on Roland’s digital Linear Arithmetic synthesis and ROM samples. The instrument is 9-part multitimbral. Memory provides with 128 preset patches, 64 user patches and 128 performances. The effects section delivers 8 effetcs (powerful reverb).
The keyboard has 61 velocity sensitive keys. The instrument was released in 1988. D-20 is a budget alternative to D-50 and comes with similar features introduced in D-10 and D-110 besides which there’s an 8-track sequencer integrated (including a rhythm track).
The programming requires some skill and time but the results can appear to be surprisingly amusing. Onboard drums include one kit, 63 sounds.
