street priceProphet ’08 takes after legendary Dave Smith’s instruments and adds an expanded mod matrix with extra modulation sources (3 envelopes and 4 MIDI-syncable LFOs per voice).
A 5-octave keyboard features a semi-weighted action, aftertouch and is velocity sensitive.
Analog structure includes analog oscillators, analog amplifiers, and Curtis low-pass filters. Specs include a gated 16-step (x4) sequencer and arpeggiator. Each layer has its own independent stereo output.
8 voices of polyphony and a 100% analog signal path. The classic architecture doesn’t imitate Prophet 5 but seems to be a clever reproduction of the original Sequential Circuits sound. Prophet ’08 isn’t a commercial trick, is a true Prophet – a next gen version which evolved according with the market needs. 2 digitally controlled analog oscillators (2 DCOs per voice) offer hard sync and a white noise generator. There’s a famous analog Curtis 2-/4-pole low-pass filter per voice with self-resonating. There are 3 envelope generators including one for the filter, for the VCA and an assignable one.
The memory is represented with 256 programs which are fully editable while each program can have up to two layers. The effects section gives you a glide/portamento one the value of which can vary for different oscillators.
The connectivity presents MIDI in/out/thru and Poly Chain, and a pedal/CV input.
