It should not seem strange that the legendary bass synthesizer Roland TB-303 continues to be copied by anyone. Current catalog Acidlab owes a lot to the Japanese giant, as it features new clones TB303, TR808 and TR606. Acidlab Bassline 3 has an improved voice circuit and sequencer, similar to Acidlab Miami drum machine. The body of the device consists of black metal, and it is strong enough to "survive" both the studio and stage.
Numerous round plastic buttons respond adequately to the touch until you press harder. The correct step forward has been made with respect to the signal selector on the front panel, which sits neatly between the tuning control and the low-pass filter (24 dB). The only VCO generates sawtooth and rectangular waveforms. A number of 16 LEDs indicate the process, while others are also informative (their values get activated according to the current mode). The tempo controller covers a range of approximately 40 to 315 beats per minute.
Together with Miami drum machine, Bassline offers a three-position switch and a choice between MIDI input, DIN Sync24 or in/out. DIN is the only way to synchronize Acidlab products. On the rear panel there are two 6.3 mm jacks, one for the main output, the other one - for the input. Incidentally, unlike TB303, when a sound source is connected, the VCO is turned off being replaced with an external signal.
The other connectors require a 3.5 mm plug, offer CV input, CV/Gate outputs, and a headphone mini jack.
