Ketron SD1 Plus is an update of the earlier SD1 version which altered the appearance of the instrument, leaving the sound quality unchanged. This is an interactive synthesizer launched by Ketron, which was released in 2002. The instrument has a piano keyboard with 76 keys, aftertouch, 64-voice polyphony, and a backlit display.
SD1 Plus has 48 MB of samples, a large number of patches - both user and factory ones (310 factory and 128 user). The modulation/pitch wheel might surprise with the location – it’s not where we’re used to see it in many other synthesizers. SD1 Plus has a sampler with 16 MB of RAM, mic recording support, and WAV files upload. All samples can be edited, as well as used in custom drum kits. For a pleasant performing, there are 307 styles of auto accompaniment, 109 of which are rewritable, and 198 are presets.
You can upload up to 999 styles from the disc. The "Syngroove" technology is designed to change the tempo of the sampled loops without changing the pitch. Moreover, in SD1 Plus it is possible to mute individual instruments in any loops.
SD1 Plus has such effects for processing as reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, wah, distortion, overdrive, equalizer. In addition, you can separately use a vocoder and a harmonizer. SD1 Plus is able to play MIDI files displaying the lyrics, open song sequences and display text files. The synthesizer has an obsolete floppy drive, as well as a hard drive with 6 GB memory.
