Clavia Nord Wave is the synthesizer with a truly multifunctional sound engine, which includes a virtual analog component, three-operator FM synthesis, tablewaves, as well as samples of sounds, considering that different components distributed among virtual oscillators. The unit has 2 oscillators, 2 virtual LFOs, 18 voices, 2 parts of multitimbrality, 1024 programs for storing settings. There are 6 kinds of filters with resonance, several standard effects (3 kinds of chorus, delay, 5 reverb types, analog overdrive emulation), 2-band equalizer, ADSR envelope generator for the amplifier and AD/AR for modulation, legato with a glide function.
Nord Wave has its traditional "one button per function" design, a small LCD screen, a standard connectivity set - MIDI IN/OUT, USB-B MIDI, 2 balanced audio outputs, one headphone output, outputs for a sustain pedal and pedals with assigned functions. Nord has its classic pitch control and the narrow aluminum modulation wheel.
The synthesizer is small in size and light in weight, offers a 4-octave keyboard with aftertouch, a built-in power supply. Clavia company carried out a good customer support even after the production withdrawal in 2013 and regularly released updates to the proprietary software (the latest update - in the fall of 2015, the firmware version 2.14).
In conclusion, we’d like to note that Nord Wave is an excellent synthesizer which stubbornly holds the price even with the appearance of a competitor in its own camp - Lead A1.
