street priceBoss DR-880 is a portable drum machine with an integrated display and 20 pads. It is much more than just a drum machine. It includes a bass guitar synthesizer and effects for guitars: chorus, delay, reverb, "wah-wah", crunch. In addition, the device has a built-in "COSM Drive/Amp" (amplifier).
DR-880 has a library of 440 percussion types, grouped into categories: 64 bass drums, 101 snares, 12 cross sticks, 66 toms, 53 hi-hats, 34 cymbals, 62 percussions, 16 claps and 32 effects. Moreover, it includes 40 types of bass.
Almost all drums seem close to real acoustic drums (like in Linn LM-2) and have their own peculiar sound. Samples from the classic drum machines TR-606, TR-707, TR-808 and TR-909 can also be found in the sets.
At the top of the device there are the knobs of global volume, bass, drums, input, as well as a large LCD showing patterns, tempo, and tonality. The central section is divided into 2 parts. On the right side there are 20 velocity sensitive pads, and above them the "Groove Modify" buttons for performance “humanization” and "Total Sound Control" for effects.
On the left side there are "Effect" and "Tuner" buttons (when connecting a guitar or bass guitar), selecting songs/patterns and sets, a pad button (for switching banks), and standard edit/play buttons.
DR-880 combines 100 preset drum kits and 100 user presets, which can be changed. The sets are laid out within 20 pads. "Kits" consist of 60 sounds and 1 bass. To simplify the creative process, there is an easy way to create patterns called "EZ Compose". It has 100 preset patterns covering a wide range of music genres. "Total Sound Control" offers the user a 3-band equalizer and reverb.
