In 1980, Roland introduced its first drum machine called BOSS Dr. Rhythm DR-55 with a set of 4 percussions, accent adjustment and a limited number of programmable patterns. In 1983, a follower of BOSS DR-110 Dr. Rhythm Graphic was released. Compared to the previous model, it offers a wider range of drums, an increased number of programmable patterns, and the ability to combine patterns together to turn them into songs.
DR-110 has a step programming with preset sequencing using the start/stop buttons, and a small display shows the individual notes of the current pattern. In addition to the sequencer, there is a "Tap Write" mode. The drum library consists of: kick, snare, closed hi-hat, open hi-hat, cymbals and clap. The timbres of the sounds are completely analog, and its scheme is more complicated than that of Roland TR-606 Drumatix.
In the upper right part of the drum machine you’ll find settings of balance, tempo, accent and sound level. The first one allows you to adjust and emphasize kick, snare and clap among other sounds, while BPM changes tempo.
