D-Station, released in 2002, appeared in front of the musicians in the shape of sample treasury of the legendary drum machines TR-808 and 909. The instrument reproduces sounds with stunning realism thanks to analog modeling (kick, snare, toms, hi-hats, cymbals). In addition, it includes PCM samples (rimshots, claps, maracas, claves and even cowbells).
By default there are 25 factory sets, as well as 15 user ones, which are stored in the internal memory. The drum machine has 6 assignable audio outputs, which allow you to process (with an equalizer or external effects) each sound separately. The control interface is similar to the classic TR-909. There are 21 knobs provided to adjust volume, tune, attack and decay parameters of drum sounds.
Comparing to Drum Station, D-Station was slightly improved in terms of increased polyphony (up to 8 notes). Moreover, the device offers 2 types of effects: distortion and front cut for accurate cutting of the attack phase.
In addition to the new appearance, the front panel introduced more reliable and tactile controllers. For musicians, full control over the MIDI parameters is available. In addition, D-Station allows you to combine modern drums with vintage drum machines "TR" through DIN Sync output. The drum synthesizer converts the MIDI Clock data into a DIN Sync control, which allows the use of TB-303, TR-808 or TR-909.
