Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol Z2, released in 2013, is a hardware mixer and a software controller 2 in 1. The included Traktor Pro allows you to perform virtual DJing with mouse clicking, control MIDI/Qwerty, and control the vinyl/CD using conventional decks. The housing of the device is very solid because it’s made of metal, and each knob, button and fader ensures durability.
Like many other scratch-mixers, the hardware part of Z2 is very simple. The controller offers the user 2 channels, powered by both line or phono inputs, and the built-in Traktor Scratch decoders (Traktor Scratch Mk2 vinyl). Whatever you use, whether it's a CDJ or a turntable, you can just plug them together with the laptop (via the USB port), and even connect external storage devices using 2-port USB hubs.
Z2 crossed all the limits among the classic DJ mixers. First, it has 2 remix decks consisting of 4 buttons each. They allow you to double cue points for the main decks, adjust loops (the LCD above the faders shows the current loop length), as well as some useful controls above the effects. Meanwhile, the central panel is responsible for downloading tracks and browsing libraries. Another interesting feature of Z2 is the filter knobs (LF, HF) in the Allen and Heat style on each deck (as an equalizer, it is available in analog mode).
