Model 15 is a legend among modular systems. It doesn’t seem possible to estimate the cost of the original, which was made in the period from 1973 to 1981. Today you can become the owner of one of the one hundred and fifty recreated synthesizers, or be happy with a virtual emulator for iOS devices priced just at 29.99.
The reissued model is assembled manually using the original circuitry and topology of the electronic boards. This allows you to get exactly the same sound.
The synthesizer is built with the help of the following blocks:
Two VCA 902 modules are voltage controlled amplifiers with the option of linear or exponential dependence on the CV.
904A - voltage controlled filter module (VCF). This is one of those modules that made moog a legend among synthesizers. It has a slope of 24 dB per octave, a cut-off frequency controller, a three-position range switch and a resonance knob. There are three control signal inputs.
907A – a 7-band equalizer with fixed frequencies and cutoff controls for high and low frequencies.
Two 911 - envelope generators, work with S-trig signals. There are four adjustment controls: T1 - attack time, T2 - release, T3 - sustain, Esus - pedestal.
921 is a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The basic triangular wave is converted into sawtooth, reverse-sawtooth, sine and two types of rectangular wave. It is possible to transpose within six octaves. For the triangle, sine, saw and meander, independent outputs are provided, and there is also an AUX output with waveform selection.
921A - control generator for 921B. The module produces two types of signals: for frequency control, for controlling the width of a rectangular pulse.
Two 921B - VCO with independent outputs: sine, triangle, saw and square. Has a 6-position octave switch and the system adjustment in semitones. There is an input for synchronization and modulation. The module is pre-configured with 921A.
923 - includes two functional blocks: a white and pink noise source; high and low pass filter. The filter cutoff frequency can be set within the range of 10 to 10,000 Hz.
995 - three independent attenuators for audio or control signals. CP15 - located in the lower part of the housing, comprises:
Four-channel mixer;
Attenuator-multiplier;
Low and high pass filter with switchable cutoff frequency;
Audio/S-trig signal converter.
