Since the version 2 the device boasts over 200 KAOSS effects programs, each composed of multiple interactive layers that create dynamic and fluid textures unique to the KAOSS series. These effects range from practical filters, delays, and reverbs to innovative modulation effects, loopers, vocoders, and synth effects. For the first time in the KAOSS series, it includes premium vocal effects spanning subtle correction to precise pitch tuning.
Housed in a robust aluminum body, KAOSS Replay features a 5-inch full-color LCD touchscreen for intuitive operation. The design balances performance-friendly size with portability. USB-C powered with comprehensive connectivity, it ensures quick setup for stress-free performances.
The heart of KAOSS Replay is its 16 velocity-sensitive pads supporting simultaneous playback of up to 16 samples. The sampling system accommodates 128 sample slots (16 pads × 8 banks) for each of up to 100 projects, all storable on a microSD card. The Version 2 firmware introduces extended loop ranges, expanded quantization settings, additional time signatures, sampling precount, and metronome support. Sample editing tools include Trim Normalize, Reverse, and Pitch shift functions.
KAOSS Replay serves as a complete portable DJ rig with beat-matching, playback quantization, hot cues, monitoring, and dual faders. The dual group assign system, BPM detection, sync capabilities, and 12-point Hot Cue triggering system enable dynamic live performances. The PAD MOTION function and TOUCH HOLD mode allow for effect automation, while the FX Release function ensures smooth transitions.
Beyond live performance, KAOSS Replay functions as a MIDI controller in Surface mode and a USB audio interface for studio production. It's particularly suitable for live streamers, offering an integrated solution with creative effects and sample triggering capabilities.
