Compact synthesizer Korg ElecTribe A (EA-1) was released in 1999. The built-in physical modeling technology was taken from the early models of the company: Z1 and Prophecy synthesizers. Multilateral analog synthesis has a rich spectrum of timbres and due to the presence of distortion - aggressive brutality. Easy, intuitive operation and an unlimited number of settings make the use indelibly attractive.
ElecTribe EA-1 has a fairly limited polyphony - only 2 voices. However, this is made up for with an abundant set of knobs and buttons. The instrument has 2 oscillators generating saw, square and triangle wavwforms which can be managed by portamento, OSC balance or pitch. Below them there’s the OSC mod button which opens fantastic possibilities in sound modelling. Among the settings there is ring modulation (Ring), hard sync (Sync) and decimation (Deci). The sound space is saturated due to an impressive set of effects: distortion, tempo delay, chorus and flanger.
The interface includes a sequencer with the real-time (real-time recording) and MIDI clock synchronization options. Its memory contains 256 user patterns which save not only note data, but also the information about the sounds. Step programming is carried out with 16 buttons laid out on the bottom of the panel. You can assign certain patterns to them. ElecTribe A was used by such musicians as Orbital, Crystal Distortion and Cirrus.
In 1999 Korg introduced another excellent synthesizer of the ElecTribe line - M (EM-1). Given the size of the instrument, you can’t imagine how many functions are stored internally. A stunning hybrid made of ElecTribe EA-1 and ER-1 is stuffed with...
ElecTribe R (ER-1) was released in 1999 as an accompaniment tool for Electribe A (EA-1). The device has quite a synthetic sound, typical for the classic drum machines of the XX century. The sound is generated with the help of a digital signal processor,...
In 2000 Korg Electribes series got a new member - a sampler called Korg ElecTribe S (ES-1). It gained its popularity not only due to the usual playback of recorded drums, but also thanks to high-quality, aggressive processing effects. The main library of...
