In 1977 ARP released a new version of its most successful synthesizer - the Omni Mk2 - on the synthesizer market. Inside the synthesizer, everything remained almost unchanged, but outside it got a new branded color scheme "orange + black" and a “full-metal jacket”. Buttons for switching presets were replaced with unfixed micro switches, which at that time was very progressive.

Among the drawbacks (although there were also supporters of the innovation) of the upgrade - a new system of the envelope generator which in the new version wasn’t re-triggered after each key press, but “worked out” its cycle completely.

Among the famous users of ARP Omni Mk2 there are Roy Ayers, Boston, Cars, Commodores, the Electrotunes, Floyd Cramer, Foreigner, Supertramp, Earth Wind and Fire, ELO, Joy Division, Kansas, Al Kooper, Yusef Lateef, Massive Attack, Santana, Tangerine Dream, Pete Townshend, War, Sparks, Stevie Wonder.
