In 2016 AKAI MPC Touch appeared on the shelves. Its surface and both sides are made of plastic, and the rear panel of the metal is red. The controller is of a certain competence, it was designed as a standalone device, but at the same time offers USB for computer.
The important feature is a full-color, multi-touch screen. Such a display was installed into the MPC series for the first time, and this implies a powerful integration with the MPC software. All the basic manipulations take place there: it displays a library, waveforms, a step sequencer, allows you to zoom the screen, cut samples, set que points, alter the sound with X/Y and more.
The surface consists of 16 velocity sensitive pads, and it's worth noting that they are truly sensitive, because they immediately react even to the lightest touch. Like other new MPC series devices, the pads feature a color backlight (they can be customized) to indicate velocity, various modes and functions.
Above them there are 4 buttons for selection from 8 available banks, from A to H. A little lower there are "Note Repeat" buttons for quick note quantization, "Half-Level" for lowering the sensitivity of the pads by half, standard 16 buttons for access to velocity, filter, and "Erase" makes it possible to remove unnecessary notes on the go.
In the right part, below the display, the "Main" and "Menu" buttons are available to access the MPC software home page, and access the main modes. In addition, there are buttons: Record, Overdub, Stop/Play, and Play-start. 4 knobs near the display show certain functions depending on the selected mode, and the "Q-link" button is for editing. The rear panel features USB jacks for MIDI/Audio, 2 inputs and outputs (44.1kHz, 24-bit), and MIDI In/Out.
