street priceJupiter-6 was introduced in 1983. The analog instrument has a 6-voice polyphony and is bitimbral. The structure provides each voice with 2 VCOs giving 12 oscillators allowing the keyboard to split into two zones one featuring 4 voices and another 2 and vice versa, a whole mode is available. LFO section includes two LFOs with 4 waveforms represented with sine, triangle, ramp and random. One resonant multimode filter features low pass, high pass (both 4-pole) and band pass (2-pole) options. Storage memory offers 48 tones/32 patches. VCA has 2 ADSR envelopes. There’s an arpeggiator onboard.
The synth appeared to be a unique product filled with the features not introduced in Jupiter 8 though it was created to be a cheaper alternative. For example, Jupiter-6 can select any or all of the waveforms featured in two osc banks which Jupiter-8 is not capable of. There are sounds for almost any genre of purpose including powerful leads, evolving pads, ambient drones, and blips. Unison Mode allows for triggering all of the oscillators with one key or distributes them among a few keys hold under the fingers.
It’s also one of the synthesizers which pioneered MIDI.
