The upcoming Superbooth 2018 exhibition, which will be held from 3rd to 5th May in Berlin, brings more and more news every day from companies that are going to present their novelties during the exhibition.
A New Zealand company Synthstrom Audible Limited reports on the preparation of the firmware update for the Deluge - its debut compact synthesizer, sampler and sequencer, which, although it came out relatively recently, has already won the hearts of many electronic musicians. The launch of the new firmware is scheduled for June, but the company will demonstrate it already at the exhibition.
Rohan Hill, lead engineer at Synthstrom Audible, has developed several enhancements that will make it possible to use the device's processor more efficiently (its performance will increase by about 30-50%), and will also rationalize memory usage by increasing its volume by 30 times. After one of the previous updates, the developers added the ability to transfer samples directly from memory cards, due to which one of the memory chips was simply not used. With the new firmware, this memory will be used together with the main one, which will give you even more freedom in working with channels, synthesized sounds, notes and parameter automation.
Also, engineers improved the virtual analog engine of their synthesizer, adding some new types of oscillators and a new drive filter that simulates analog instruments.
In addition, the device will have new arranger functionality, which, according to the developers, will be the most powerful and flexible method of working on arrangements among all modern hardware sequencers. Whether this is so - we will know very soon at the exhibition!
These are not all the innovations that will bring us the update to version 2.0, say the developers, it will be possible to learn about it much more in a couple of weeks.
The firmware will be distributed completely free to users of the Deluge synthesizer.
