From the third to the fifth of May an exhibition of musical equipment Superbooth 2018 was held in Berlin. There were new products and developments presented by more than 200 manufacturers. Among them there were modules, synthesizers, controllers and much more. We decided to gather the most interesting devices of the Superbooth 2018 and now we're going to tell you about the hot novelties in the sphere of Eurorack modules.
In continuation of our previous post about the Eurorack modules, presented at the musical equipment exhibition Superbooth 2018, we will tell you about the novelties in the sphere of stand-alone instruments. Among them, there are a couple of extremely cheap synthesizers from Twisted Electrons, a high-grade FM synth from Fingersonic, the new version of a successful Erebus synth from the Greek company Dreadbox and a granular synthesizer from Tasty Chips Electronics.
The Dave Smith Instruments company has brought its new instrument Sequential Prophet X, to the Superbooth 2018 exhibition. The device combines the functions of a synthesizer and a sampler. The developers themselves believe that out of all the transformations of the Prophet this came out the most revolutionary and impressive.
The Dreadbox company has been pleasing us with novelties during all the Spring 2018. Over the past month, they have presented a third version of their Erebus synthesizer and its smaller version Lil' Erebus, which comes as a DIY kit, but the most intriguing and long-awaited news from the company was the Medusa synthesizer prototype that they brought to the Superbooth 2018, held in Berlin from 3 to 5 May.
On May 11th, a new Moog product was launched - a semi-modular analog synthesizer Grandmother, which also includes an arpeggiator, a sequencer and a spring reverb. Its design and internal organization refers to the classic modular systems from Moog, but now it is not necessary to understand the sound path of the instrument - its semi-modular structure allows you to explore the world of analog synthesis even without the knowledge of patching and, at the same time, reconnect any of the default connections.
