The new microKORG S is very attractive. White housing, light wooden sides made of maple. And practically the same technical basics microKORG used to feature back in 2002 – 4 virtual analog voices, 2 oscillators per voice + 2LFO + noise generator, 2 envelope generators, LPF/ HPF/ BPF, vocoder.
The crucial distinction is in the fact that S model has a built-in acoustic system 2.1. The number of patches was increased up to 192 (vs 128) and now it’s possible to save up to 64 user programs. On the whole it’s still that old good and a bit outdated microKORG with mini keys which keeps on being produced because the company still wants to benefit from that demand – there are many beginners as well as musicians who just love the instruments of the era and treat the 90s with care deep in their hearts. They need volca to be continued because they remember how cool it was to use something like that experiencing the heyday of disco, dance, hip hop and other electronic styles.
volca kick - is the 6th device in the series after volca keys, volca bass, volca beats, volca FM и volca sample.
volca kick is the kick generator based on the resonant MS-20 Rev1 filter and sine waveform generator featuring the fully analog path. Having passed the resonator the wave can be processed by sine level change, VCA attack/decay adjustment as well as can undergo the drive effect and pitch change.
The device includes a 16-step sequencer. As all the other volcas it features MIDI input, a 16-key touch-panel keyboard, jacks for syncing.
The synthesizer can be powered with a 9V DC power supply (sold separately) or 6 x AA batteries – the batteries will serve you for one active day of use.
