CS-10 is a monophonic single-oscillator synthesizer. Its VCO offers saw waveform, variable PW and white noise generating. The only LFO features sine and saw waves. The filter section is represented with one multi-mode VCF. VCA has two ADSR envelopes. The 37-note keyboard offers no patch memory.
CS-10 is an affordable and simple analog synthesizer released by Yamaha in 1977. No program storage is not an issue since there are many knobs to tweak your monophonic voice each time getting the variety out of the basic sonic architecture. The filter section comprises a low pass, high pass and band pass mode allowing external audio signal to be routed via the resonant filter. Filter cutoff, volume, pitch and oscillator can be modulated by LFO. There’s also a portamento function.
CV/Gate can be converted to MIDI with the help of additional interfacing device. The unit was used by Depeche Mode, Astral Projection, the Propellerheads and Moa.
