Before the release of such highly professional instruments as Studiologic Numa Concert and Numa Stage, Numa Compact was released (2012). It has an 88-note semi-weighted stage keyboard (TP/9 PIANO), which is competently balanced for the piano performance, and weighs 2 times less (6.4 kg) than Numa Stage, thus allowing it to be easily moved from place to place.
The MIDI section sends control change, LSB bank, MSB bank, channel and octave change, and it has a separate volume control to adjust the required level for external equipment. Here you can also find 2 MIDI zones (A and B), so you can control 2 different sounds on 2 different MIDI channels within a layer.
Numa Compact does not have an aftertouch, but there are several velocity envelope presets offered, and if you press the "Fatar Touch" button, Numa Compact will create a custom envelope the value of which will be based on the minute of the individual performance, which further can be saved. In the far left corner of the control panel there are 2 wheels for pitch change, modulation and control over the effects (rotary/tremolo).
The MIDI section can be turned on/off with a separate button, the way it is in the external section of Nord Stage 2. This allows you to quickly turn on/off the sound on an external MIDI device. The built-in reverb/delay effects and modulation effects help animate each instrument.
The instrument has an excellent sound, it has 50 user memory cells, but only 10 factory patches. The concert grand piano sounds particularly well, and both pianos have simulated string noises/sympathetic resonance, which adds to that authenticity.
The remaining 10 sounds consist of Rhodes samples which are distinguished by a very authentic sound during smooth performing. Clavinet and Wurlie sound good with tremolo. In addition, Numa Compact offers some electrical basses.
