SV-1 is the basic component of the modular synthesizer system used in Lifeforms System 101, 201 and 301. It combines the functionality of more than ten modules put together in one package. By connecting different modules using patch cords, you can get a variety of sounds and music textures.

The module consists of the following functional units:

  • MIDI - converts the digital MIDI signal into analog control signal necessary to control the synthesizer. It is a monophonic MIDI-CV converter with arpeggiator, portamento, LFO functions.
  • Oscillator 1 is a fully analog voltage controlled oscillator. The basic waveform is a saw, the others (triangle, meander, sine, blade) are obtained by internal transformations. Each waveform has an individual output. Frequency (FM) and pulse-width (PW) modulation is available. The functional block is built on the basis of Waveforms.
  • Oscillator 2 - is a slightly truncated version of Oscillator 1 (there is no possibility of PW modulation and no Blade wave). The output of the triangular wave has an internal connection with the "fm cv" input of the oscillator 1.
  • Modulation - the source of modulation. It is a low-frequency oscillator (LFO) with independent outputs for a triangular and rectangular wave. Only the frequency adjustment is available among the setting options. The generator is indicated by a LED.
  • Mixer - two 2-channel mixers with individual control level for each channel.
  • Tools - multifunctional sub module. It performs three functions: sub oscillator (octave), noise source (mixed pink and white noise), sample & hold.
  • Filter – multifunctional voltage controlled filter, built on SVR (State Variable Filter) technology. It has three filters with individual outputs: low pass, high frequency (high pass) and band pass.
  • ADSR is an envelope generator with four adjustable components: attack, decay, sustain and release. Can be used to control the amplitude of the generator, the cutoff frequency of the filter or any other voltage-controlled function.
  • Amplifier is a voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA).
  • Splitter - two passive signal propagators. A signal fed in one input goes to two outputs.
  • Outputs is the output block. The output signal is monophonic.
