DDJ-RZ was released in 2015. The controller has a 4-channel mixer and 2 high-quality platters with an adjustable "feel" from light to heavy, taken from CDJ-2000NXS. In fact, DDJ-RZ mirrors DDJ-SZ, the Serato controller released in 2014. The rear panel features 4 inputs (phono amplifiers and analog on both sides) and 2 audio inputs, which are designed for a standalone mode. There you can also find the microphone input, XLR, master, and balanced TRS outputs.
DJ controller leaves the impression of professional and reliable equipment. One of the best things about RZ is its sound. It features Wolfson 2000s converters, which produce a fantastic sound (provided the Recordbox DJ is used).
The device has 16 pads with 4 buttons: Hot Cue, Pad FX, Slicer, Sampler for manipulating tracks. Hot Cue and Slicer allow you to cut samples for looping, or "stuttering", while Pad FX offers a set of effects: phaser, reverb, or gate. Its upper part consists of a scroll bar (from the CDJ series), effects assignable to individual channels, including the reverse and "slip" buttons.
Among especially pleasant additions there are the sampling and sequencing functions. "Sampler" allows you to download samples from the browser, or take them from "Slicer", then put them on 8 pads. This is a much more efficient way of playing samples on the fly than those offered by other popular DJ software. It is also worth mentioning that they can be processed separately through "Sound Color FX", recorded in patterns for each loop or saved for later use.
