Pioneer DDJ-RX became one of the most outstanding DJ controllers among the DDJ series. It is designed to work with Rekordbox DJ software. Its body consists of a chunky plastic shell with a metal top plate, heavy enough to be strong, but still retaining its portability. Buttons, selectors and faders look very reliable, and 2 platters are much better, and more suitable for scratching.
Under both platters there are 16 pads with 4 buttons: Hot Cue, Pad FX, Slicer, Sampler for "magic" manipulations with the tracks. Hot Cue and Slicer allow you to jump abruptly to any part of the song, cut samples for looping, or so-called "stuttering", while Pad FX offers a set of effects: the phaser, reverb, delay and others.
DDJ-RX has a simple track loading, and horizontal scroll bars allow you to move very quickly along the current track, and to prevent accidental moves, a lock function is provided. The 4-channel mixer includes standard 3-band equalizers, a small central section with noise effects, bitcrushing, pitch change, filter, and a fader located just below to change the volume of the sampler with the sync and cue buttons. The upper part of the device offers a set of 3 knobs with effects that offer "beat fx" by default. One can not help but mention the auxiliary knob with the inscription "Release FX" which is responsible for vinyl break, echo and backspin effect.
The rear panel features XLR and RCA, as well as TRS-output. Channels 1 and 2 have inputs for CD players or iPod/iPhone and, of course, they are ready for connection via DVS (Recordbox DJ). Channel 3 is equipped with RCA input, combined XLR/TRS, and the 4th is RCA for CD and an additional microphone. In the front of the device there are 2 headphone outputs, input channel switches, and crossfader adjustment.
