The Novation Launchpad S was released to replace the original. It has a similar appearance, an interface, but it has some additional features. Updates have affected the LED component, which has become much brighter, as well as the response time. In addition, plug and play for other applications has been added. Grid functions the way it did before: it is based on 4 modes, which can be switched in the upper right corner of the device.
Session mode allows you to run "scenes" in the Ableton Live Session View, along with using the vertical row of buttons on the right. Individual samples can be played in the central part of Launchpad S. When using pads, as in the Live Session View, the area that belongs to the grid will be enclosed within a colored rectangle on the Live screen. A set of 4 cursors in the upper left corner of the device, allows you to navigate through all the elements of the surface.
In the mixer mode, you can adjust individual parameters: volume level, panning, sends A and B. The other buttons are the transport controls. The first 4 parameters are vertically laid out so there are 8 pads for loop editing. The last 2 user modes can be used for MIDI mapping or for note play.
