The miniKORG 700, KORG's first mass-produced monophonic synthesizer from 1973, has been authentically revived as the miniKORG 700FS. This new version is based on the improved miniKORG 700S model from 1974 and was developed in collaboration with the original designer, Fumio Mieda. The revival adds modern features like an arpeggiator, spring reverb, and aftertouch while maintaining the authentic analog sound of the original.
The decision to revive the miniKORG 700 came from recognizing that digital modeling couldn't capture the true beauty of its analog sound. KORG's current analog engineers worked under Mieda's supervision to ensure faithful reproduction of the original's distinctive characteristics.
Key Features:
- Two oscillators (like the 700S model) enabling thick, detuned sounds ideal for leads and bass
- The iconic Traveler controller with dual sliders for precise sound filtering
- Intuitive control layout with all parameters arranged in a row below the keys
- Authentic spring reverb
- Modern additions including joystick for pitch bend/modulation, aftertouch, memory program buttons, USB port, MIDI IN,
- CV/GATE IN jack
- Audio IN jack
The miniKORG 700FS, originally designed as a sub keyboard for organs in the 1970s, remains versatile as a complementary instrument for modern stage keyboards and electric pianos.
