The wood-paneled 73-note weighted velocity sensitive keyboard with aftertouch delivers 64 performances, 64 patches (32 ROM and 32 RAM).
DX1 is a digital synthesizer the sounds of which feel quite lively. The display makes it easier to program the sounds of the DX series visualizing editable parameters. Two patches A and B can be used at once in a layer or split mode.
DX1 didn’t have the popularity of DX7, is much more expensive and soon the model was replaced with DX5.
DX1 was used by Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke, Kitaro, Elton John and Herbie Hancock.
