Synthstrom Deluge enables grid-style sequencing with the help of 128 RGB pads, SD card (up to 32 GB) sample reading. The device sports a full functional synth engine (FM and subtractive) and can control external equipment via MIDI. Dimensions: 305mm х 208mm х 46mm (12” х 8.2” х 1.8”), 1.5 kg.
The polyphony is processor-limited and allows producing up to 48 synth voices or 64 voices based on samples. 64 MB sample memory will let you work with 12-minute monophonic samples of CD quality.
The synthesizer comprises low pass and high pass filters, arpeggiator, portamento, oscillator sync, ring modulation, unison mode with detune feature. There are 4 basic waveforms, although you can take any SD card loaded WAV file as a sample and alter its length.
Deluge supports piano-roll-style mode providing 128 RGB pads (8x16) with scrolling and scaling. Sequencing is limited only by RAM and can number thousands of note events.
There’s a synthesis and effects manual tuning possibility thanks to 2 LED encoders. There are LFO and envelope per synth/sample. You’ll find there effects including delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, phaser, bit-crusher, sidechain, live stutter and etc. Volume, tempo and sample length have dedicated control knobs.
The keyboard offers the special mode turning pads into a real instrument laid out on a grid. There are preset and user scales as well as chromatic mode.
Synthstrom Deluge features an impressive connectivity and synchronization set: linear input 3.5mm and 1/4", two 1/4” linear outputs, 3.5mm headphones output. There are 2 CV 0-10V outputs individually configurable to 1, 1.2, 0.26 or 0.32 volts per octave, or to hertz per volt. 4 Gate/trigger outputs also individually configurable to v-trig or s-trig with shared voltage switchable between 5V and 12V.
Trigger clock output is configurable up to 192 PPQN – trigger clock input features adjustable PPQN as well. MIDI in/out via hardware jacks or USB. MIDI sync is possible whether the unit serves as a master or slave device.
Simple buttons for function selection. Parameters can be stored in memory. Unconventional time signatures and adjustable swing are supported.
Synthstrom Deluge is geared with a built-in Li-ion battery (6 hours of operation), microphone and built-in speaker so that you could use it anywhere you want. The device is USB powered, though it can be powered by 9-12V supply (500mA) which doesn’t come together with the unit.
The developer hasn’t announced the price yet but offers a news subscription to anyone who wants to get Deluge first not missing a thing about its availability.
