The sound of the two synthesizers is emulated with the help of ACB (Analog Circuit Behaviour) technology, i.e. the hardware is completely different from the original one – so these are kind of unique products on the market now comparing to other modern clones of old Roland drum machines. But in this case the introduction of new technologies is a good thing: the devices offer a 4-channel audio output via USB (besides the classic analog mini jack which receives a mastered sound) and thanks to the fine compatibility of all the Boutique series instruments they can be easily integrated with K-25 keyboards. And of course, TR-09 and TB-03 offer MIDI ins/outs as well as MIDI via USB support.
TR-09, Rhythm Composer, or a rhythm arranger allows creating of drum parts comprising bass drum, snare, low+mid+hi toms, adding clap, hi-hat, cymbals and stack them into a 64-step sequencer. There’s also a possibility of sending CV signals to external instruments.
TR-03, Bass Line is a bass synthesizer capable of detailed editing of an instrument the sound of which is modeled with a sawtooth or square waveform affected by resonance, cutoff frequency, envelope modulation, delay and decay effects adjusting. There’s also an overdrive function. You can send the signals to external devices (CV/ Gate Out) as well as receive control information (Trigger IN) which allows us to use TR-09 and TB-03 together and to connect it to other synthesizers.
