Pioneer Toraiz AS-1 offers 7 effects based on Dave Smith Instruments Prophet~6, is equipped with a 64-step sequencer and seems to be an enhanced version of DSI Prophet~6 synth. Toraiz AS-1 comprises 2 VCOs with adjustable waveforms, a 4-pole low pass filter with a self-oscillating function and a 2-pole high pass filter also featuring resonance control. It took a rich set of effects from its predecessor. Toraiz AS-1 gives an opportunity to use two effects simultaneously or to switch FX section off completely in order to get an absolutely analog signal path.
The new synth makes integration with Toraiz SP-16 sampler possible via MIDI so you can use the sequencer. DJM mixer allows both devices to interact. Toraiz AS-1 is equipped with a bright OLED display, USB port and two MIDI connectors (for computers or external units with MIDI implementation).
Toraiz AS-1 offers 495 factory presets and space for the same number of user ones. The instrument has a comprehensible interface featuring intuitive performance functions including a 64-step sequencer, arpeggiator and Scale mode as well as a touchpad-style keyboard and slider. The appearance is convincing enough – the synth components are enclosed into a compact and shockproof metal housing.
Pioneer Toraiz AS-1 entered the world music market in March priced at €549 (retail price).
