British company Digitana Electronics is already known for its interface modules for Electronic Music Studios (EMS) synthesizers: Synthi A, AKS и VCS3 (Mk1 и Mk2). Their products are manually assembled and built to a high standard.
The first design, SX-1, was inspired with the classic Synthi AKS and is a standalone expander. Its exterior reminds of 1970s and on the whole the module possesses all the specifications of Synthi AKS. SX-1 even tried to outdo its predecessor having included extra filters and elaborate MIDI implementation.
The next one is Halia and in comparison to SX-1 it looks quite modern. It’s an all digital 'pocket' synth although not a toy – despite its “extremely portable” appearance it can bring around that very sound of Buchla classic instruments (such as Music Easel), features FM synthesis and uses ARM microcontrollers.
Now there are no official info about either its price or release date, but Digitana Electronics promise to let us know all the details soon.
