In addition to the Berlin Superbooth 2018 exhibition, there will be another iconic event for fans of electronic music - Moogfest 2018. The venue will be Durham City in North Carolina, and guests - more than 150 performers, both pioneers and innovators of electronic music. The festival will be held on May 17-20, and the tickets cost from $230 for a regular ticket to $1500 for the Engineer Pass. Those who bought Engineer Pass will be able to assemble within the workshop of the festival with their own hands a new synthesizer Sub-Harmonicon.
In its creation, designers were inspired by such instruments as Trautonium (a monophonic electronic musical instrument from the distant 1929) and Rhythmicon (the world's first drum machine), as well as the Schillinger System (an alternative musical notation system based on algorithmic composition).
According to the information received from the official press release, this is a semi-modular synthesizer in which you can find two oscillators, a sub-oscillator, two envelope generators with attack and decay attenuation, a resonant analog filter, a built-in step sequencer and an impressive switching matrix. It will be possible to use the 2 parts of the harmonic signal independently in the sequencer. In addition to the above features, the synthesizer will have some logical functions and much more.
The sound of this synthesizer, as well as its cost and date of market entry, remain a mystery, but we hope to get more information during and after Moogfest 2018.
