Moog Music has demoed Subsequent 37 CV – an enhanced Sub 37 version sporting assignable CV outputs which provides you with much more possibilities regarding integration the new unit with modular systems and applying it as a master controller. Among other improved features – quality keyboard, modified mixer.
“We are really excited to incorporate community feedback into the evolution of an instrument. Adding CV interconnectivity was the starting point,” says Moog Chief Engineer Cyril Lance, “but we have also increased the headroom in the mixer and significantly extended the range of Multidrive, giving the Subsequent 37 CV expanded sonic capability and modular control.”
Moog Subsequent 37 CV offers 4 assignable CV outputs and 2 assignable Gate outputs ensuring smooth and comprehensive compatibility with Eurorack modular systems as well as the systems in other format. The keybed is no more “rickety”, the keys promise to stay as even and solid as you get them. The signal path has been altered – Ladder filter has been rebuilt to ensure a wider range of dynamics and brighten harmonic saturation which would add that analog feel to the sound. Multidrive circuit, which used to be a crucial component of Moog’s voice, has also been rethought. The headroom in the mixer was increased significantly while headphone output got a new amplifier.
Moog Subsequent 37 CV limited series will number 2000 units. First 125 ones will be available for $1799 from Guitar Center or at Moogfest 2017 which is taking place right now – 18-21 May, 2017.
The discussions have already burst out – is there any point to pay such a price for an analog monosynth (though it’s not just a synth, it’s another cult Moog thing we’re talking about)? It surely has its unique sound but the market is filled and stuffed with delicious treats produced to entice you by Moog’s major rivals – DSI, Arturia, Elektron. Waiting for your comments!
