The famous Finnish electronic musician and composer, the member of the minimal electronic duo Pan Sonic who celebrated rhythmic noise, ambient, and techno, Mika Vainio passed away. The sad news appeared on the Facebook fan page and was confirmed by one of the family members.

The electronic music and techno lovers know this name for sure – Vainio has been an impressive and prominent musician creating on his own as well as being a member of Pan Sonic duo.

He became famous when everybody knew him as Ø. Mika was a part of VVV band together with the popular Suicide band member Alan Vega.

The news shocked the music world - Samuli Kemppi, Modeselektor, DJ Nobu, Optimo, Boomkat shop, PAN label, Philip Sherburne and Unsound festival and many others expressed their sincere condolences.

The cause of death is still unknown - Mika Vainio has died at the age of 53. The close sources tell that the musician has been quite active and enthusiastic recently: he was going to pay a visit to pay a visit to St Petersburg on the 29th of April having the city in the list of his tour dates.

Techno and minimal electronic music, which Mika was so good in, is an avant-garde music art renowned all over the world.
