Loop 2016: Summit For Music Makers

Loop 2016: Summit For Music Makers

Not so long ago Berlin held Ableton Loop event. It included 3 days (4-6 November) of discussions, performance, presentations, studio sessions and interactive workshops aimed at music ideas, art and technology exchange. Loop united musicians, developers, teachers and other creative personalities with their minds addressing the problems of the near and further future.

Ableton LOOP 2016Loop 2016 was held in Funkhaus building constructed in 1951. Before Funkhaus used to serve as a house where the national radio of German Democratic Republic resided. Now this is the territory for a big music conference.

Despite the fact that the event is held in Germany, English is the official language of Loop. This simplified the situation significantly making the event as open and comprehensible to international guests as to the native speakers.

As forpresentations and discussions: this year the event received such personalities as Adam Stark, singer and electronic musician Aerea Negrot, Big Creative Training Ltd co-founder - Alexis Michaelides, composer Anna Meredith, Hartmann Music and Designbox engineer and co-founder - Axel Hartmann, modules production company Bastl Instruments, Seeking The Velvet founder - Cora Novoa, Kraftwerk videographer - Falk Grieffenhagen, singer Kimbra, electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick, Skinnerbox band, musician and modular systems creator Thomas Kircher and many others.

There were workshops organized where visitors could test modular synthesizers and music studios which were available for open music sessions.

Funkhaus territory surprised with amusing objects all over the space: interactive music installations, music applications and Robert Henke’s Fragile Territories composition.

The event will be back in 2017 that’s why we’ll keep being informed seeking for pieces and details – they are to come!
