Despite the fact that the main musical exhibition of the 2018 NAMM Show hasn’t begun yet, many music equipment manufacturers have already started sharing information about their new products on the Internet. Of course, one of the most anticipated pieces of news is a new instrument created by the leading Japanese company KORG and we’ve mentioned the product earlier. While there is little info, it is clear that this will be a polyphonic hybrid synthesizer called KORG Prologue.
The images demonstrate some nuances proving that the new instrument inherited the genetics of Minilogue and Monologue, and that's just great news, because these mini synthesizers have become market hits of the last 2 years. At the same time, Korg Prologue is a much more sophisticated instrument featuring a full-sized keyboard. What’s great is that this time the Japanese company didn’t choose the way of reducing the price of its product, and we will get a synthesizer enclosed in an aluminum case with wooden sides.
Korg Prologue will be released in 2 versions - with 8-voice and with 16-voice polyphony, comprising two analog oscillators, as well as a digital oscillator for noise generating, VPM and user waveforms. As in Minilogue, the manufacturer has provided oscillators with 4 modes of operation - polyphonic, monophonic, unison, chord. The new synthesizer offers 250 factory programs and delivers 250 user patches.
Prologue is surely to have an advanced multi-mode arpeggiator (Manual, Rise, Fall, Rise Fall, Random, Poly Random). The happy owners will get a set of digital filters onboard, including delay and reverb, wide modulation and connectivity capabilities.
Also there are 2 variants of the keyboard - 4 octaves (49 keys) - 8-voice version and 5 octaves (61 keys) - 16-voice version. A more expensive version of Prologue is equipped with an analogue compressor circuit featuring a dedicated control on the front panel.
