As we’ve already told you Korg was going to make another ARP Odyssey copy being eager to please vintage gear fans. But this time it would be a perfect clone owing to its full-size keys. The keyboard will neither have aftertouch nor be velocity sensitive – like the original one. This time KORG ARP Odyssey FS comes again in 3 variations and source inspired: white with slim knobs as a Rev1/ ARP 2000: 1972–1974, black with golden inscriptions as a Rev2/ ARP 2810–2813: 1975–1976 and black with orange inscriptions as a Rev3/ ARP 2820–2823: 1978–1981. The technical components will be the same for all the three models as well as the possibility to switch filters the way you could do it in those revisions.
What is really different is that KARP Odyssey FS will be a limited edition and is assembled not in Japan but in USA, New-York. David Friend, the founder of ARP Instruments, coordinated the assembling process himself. By the way he’s very glad to help the first patch-cordless ARP synth get its reboot.
The synthesizer will ship in February 2017 for quite a reasonable price for a legend of $1600. So if you’ve been dreaming of ARP Odyssey but its reduced keys, price and questionable quality of retro instruments stopped you from buying now it’s the right time for you to get your Odyssey because it seems to be quite a bargain.
