The Swedish company Elektron has announced the release of a new sampling device, Elektron Octatrack successor. Octatrack MKII is an eight-processor performance sampler + sequencer with a combination of internal tracks, MIDI tracks and inputs and outputs, designed for both live performance and studio.

Octatrack DPS-1 released in 2011 is an 8-track dynamic performance sampler and sequencer 2 in 1 featuring a maximum sample depth and sampling rate of 16 bits and 44.1 kHz, respectively.

Among the new features of Octatrack mkII manufacturers specify an accurate 128×64 screen on organic diodes that will allow controlling the device even in low light conditions, wear-resistant buttons with illumination, a non-contact "silky-smooth" crossfader interface, precise, high-performance encoders. The new model has a slightly bigger number of buttons, which will make the working process easy and quick.

Announcing the new device, Elektron CEO Jonas Hillman said that Octatrack MKII is an outstanding instrument for live performances - touch feel and visual design will allow you to improvise both on stage and in the studio.

Hillman said that Octatrack mkII will satisfy the needs of anyone who really wants to experiment with samples.

The device has 8 stereo audio tracks, 8 dedicated MIDI tracks and is capable of instant sampling. There are 2 insert FX for the audio track and 3 LFOs per track.

As for connectivity, there is one 1/4” headphone output, two 1/4” balanced signal outputs, two 1/4” impedance balanced outputs, four 1/4” balanced external inputs. High-speed USB 2.0 port, MIDI IN/OUT/THRU ports are also available. Octatrack mkII is fully compatible with Octatrack first version.

For its operation the device will require power 8-18 W, the recommended power source should give 6V DC, 3A.

In addition to these qualities, we should note that the device has precise high-resolution controllers, and nice touch buttons are designed for 50 million presses. The device has dimensions of W340 × D185 × H63 mm (8.5 × 7.2 × 2.5 inches). The unit weighs about 2.3 kg (5 lb). In the box you’ll also find: 16 GB high-speed compact flash card, PSU-2 power supply, Elektron USB cable.

The device is given a three-year warranty. As a bonus - 2 GB of Loopmasters on a CF card.

It is reported that Elektron Octatrack mkII will be available in August 2017. It can go up to 1449 euros (1349 dollars).
