World famous for its analog synthesizers company Arturia has recently launched a new instument in continuation of its Brute line - DrumBrute Impact. It is an analog drum machine, which, according to the manufacturers will force you to redefine the way you create rhythm, drums, and percussion, both in the studio and on stage.
We, as usual, have prepared a list of the main functions of the new device:
- 9 pure analog sounds: Kick, Snare 1, Snare 2, Tom Hi, Tom Low, Cowbell, Cymbal, Closed Hat, Open Hat
- Dedicated FM Synth Channel
- Powerful sequencer: 64 patterns with up to 64 steps.
- Polyrhythm: set unique pattern lengths for each instrument.
- Looper: for glitchy beat-repeats.
- Roller: add per instrument drum fills.
- Songs: chain up to 16 patterns, save up to 16 songs.
- Swing: add some groove to your rhythm, either globally or per drum.
- Randomness: add unpredictable variations to your pattern.
- Output distortion: rich, specially voiced distortion on the output to add some filth when you need it, and bypass when you don’t.
- Color: unique to DrumBrute Impact, “Color” can be activated per instrument, or per step. Color adds overdrive to the kick and snare, and works as an exciter for the hats, toms, and FM sound.
As to the connectivity - DrumBrute Impact can be connected to almost any hardware or software using MIDI, clock or USB. The instrument also has four additional group outputs for the kick, snare, high-hats and FM sounds for post-processing in a sequencer. Besides them, of course, there is also a 3.5mm headphone output, and, when connected, the metronome disconnects from the main output and sounds only in your headphones. DrumBrute Impact will retail for $349 / 299 €. It is available to preorder now, and will arrive in music stores worldwide during August 2018.
