Scott Wedel (often credited as Scott Wedge) was a key engineer at E-mu Systems during the company's pioneering years in digital sampling and drum machine design.

Wedel worked on the Emulator II, the successor to the original Emulator that improved sample fidelity, storage, and playability — becoming a studio standard alongside the Fairlight CMI and Akai S-series. He also contributed to the SP-1200, E-mu's legendary sampling drum machine whose 12-bit crunch defined hip-hop, house, and electronic production.

The SP-1200's combination of limited sample time, swing-capable sequencer, and distinctive filtering forced creative sampling techniques that shaped entire genres. Wedel's engineering helped translate E-mu's sampling expertise into instruments optimized for beat-making rather than orchestral playback.
