Gilles Pommereuil, co-founder of Arturia alongside Frédéric Brun — two engineering graduates of the Grenoble Institute of Technology who met in the university symphony orchestra and founded Arturia in Grenoble in 1999.

Pommereuil, who conducted the orchestra while Brun played violin, shared a vision that technology could democratize music creation. Arturia's first product, Storm (2000), was a virtual instrument workstation; the company then gained fame for accurate software emulations of classic analog synthesizers including the Minimoog V and ARP 2600.

Pommereuil helped lead Arturia's transition from pure software to hardware synthesizers and controllers — including the MiniBrute and MicroBrute analog monosynths, KeyLab controllers, and the MicroFreak — establishing Arturia as France's leading musical instrument manufacturer.
