Ikutaro Kakehashi was a Japanese engineer and entrepreneur who founded the Roland Corporation, one of the leading companies in the synthesizer industry. He is credited with having made the first modern synthesizer and developing the MIDI standard, which allowed musical instruments to communicate with each other. His innovations have been instrumental in the development of modern electronic music production.
