Fumio Mieda is a pioneering Korg engineer who designed core circuits for the MS-20, miniKORG, Polysix, Trident, and PS series from the 1960s onward.
Mieda built Prototype No. 1 and the oscillator/filter topology used in the MS-20 (1978), whose aggressive filters became a benchmark for affordable analog synthesis. Filter concepts from earlier Korg 700-series designs echo in modern Volca instruments.
Decades later Mieda remained active at Korg, consulting on the MS-20 Mini reissue and mentoring engineers including Hiroaki Nishijima and Tatsuya Takahashi.
Notable products: Korg MS-20, Polysix, Trident, miniKORG, PS series.
