Cyril Lance is an engineer, musician, and physicist who served as Chief Engineer and Chief Technology Officer at Moog Music from 2005 until 2019, entrusted by Bob Moog himself to carry forward the company's engineering vision during Bob's final illness.

Lance met Bob Moog at the Moog factory in January 2005; their conversation about shared Cornell engineering-physics backgrounds and love of music led Bob to ask Lance to lead engineering while he underwent treatment. Lance finalized the Little Phatty and subsequently oversaw the Sub Phatty, Sub 37, Subsequent 37, Minitaur, Taurus 3, Theremini, and Animoog — Moog's best-selling synthesizer.

Before Moog, Lance built custom analog and digital systems for universities and research institutions worldwide, including audio-frequency circuits for Duke University and optical electronics for atmospheric experiments — work that took him as far as a year-long posting at the South Pole.

Since leaving Moog in 2019, Lance has consulted through his firm on high-end instrument design, including contributions to the Rhodes Mark 8. His philosophy emphasizes collaboration, musical intention, and preserving the clarity of high-voltage, full-bandwidth Moog circuits.
