This is probably the most legendary and most popular synthesizer of all time. While the algorithms of the sound engines were changing getting more complicated, amazing VST and AU instruments appeared - Minimoog remained a must have device. And every manufacturer put in the brand synthesizer a few patches imitating that familiar Moog sound.

Forty years later Moog decided to release the legendary model once again. The manufacturer promises that the authenticity of all electronic elements and even the layout of the boards are kept the same. But there are differences that add some relevance to the synthesizer in the 21st century:

The new keyboard, produced by the Italian company Fatar, is velocity sensitive and features aftertouch.

CV and gate outputs for parameters: pitch, velocity and aftertouch.

Full MIDI compatibility via MIDI in, out and thru connectors.

An analog low-frequency oscillator (LFO) has been added.

Legendary overdrive with feedback can now be achieved without additional patch cords.

The control panel is divided into five function blocks:

Controllers:
Tune - the global tuning of the system.
Glide - sets the portamento time (sliding transition from note to note).

Modulation mix - mixes the modulation sources determined by the position of the switches. Modulation by an external source is also possible, for this purpose there’s a "MOD. SRC" on the rear panel.
OSC.3/FILTER EG switch - determines the modulation source available in the leftmost position of the Modulation mix; allows you to select the third VCO signal or envelope signal from the filter section, while the parameters of attack, release and sustain determine the modulation.

The NOISE/LFO switch is the source for the extremely right position of the Modulation mix. It can be a noise or LFO source.

Switch Oscillator modulation - enables modulation of oscillators.

Oscillator bank - contains three voltage controlled oscillators (VCO). Each oscillator has a "RANGE" switch which is responsible for transposing the signal within six octaves. For oscillators 2 and 3, tuning adjustment is available. For VCO 1 and 2, two types of triangular, sawtooth and three types of rectangular waveforms are available. In VCO3, one type of triangular waveform is replaced with a reverse saw.

The mixer block contains switches and level controls for each oscillator, noise source and external source. This block offers a switch of noise source type - white/pink.

The Modifiers section includes VCA (loudness contour), VCF, and a filter contour generator.
The filter is a classic Moog resonant low pass filter. It has a modulation switch, cutoff frequency control, "emphasis" adjustment (feedback depth, resonance) and control signal attenuator of "filter contour".

The filter envelope generator has an attack, release and sustain adjustment. The "Keyboard control" switches provide tracking of the pressed keys: higher notes have a higher frequency cut, which ensures the brighter sound.

The VCA adjusts the time of attack, release and sustain.

The output section contains a volume control and a switch for the main output, a headphone preamp with independent level control, and a test signal switch (A-note - 440 Hz sine).

To the left of the keyboard there are pitch bend and modulation wheels, the "decay" switches (provides the last sound of the last key pressed) and the "glide", and the frequency control of the low-frequency generator (LFO).
