The module sports a 64-note polyphony and 16-part multitimbrality. 4 expansion slots are there to use with SR-JV80-Series expansion boards. The 8Mb of sounds were already in. Up to 42Mb of tones could be added.
JV-1080 had a convenient display for easy parameter editing, and 40 various insert effects including rotary, phaser, pitch shift and tempo delay. The unit offered an onboard reverb, chorus as well as the possibility of applying ring modulation. The motion control and comprehensive MIDI implementation made the creativity process flexible and simple.
