SY85 is a 61-note velocity sensitive keyboard with aftertouch featuring 32 voices of polyphony. The oscillator section is based on AWM2 which is a second generation Advanced Wave Memory. The filter is represented with digital low pass, high pass, band pass and band elimination options.

The 9-track sequencer (the one track is for rhythm) allows for 20 000 notes, 100 patterns and 10 songs. The effects section is represented with 2 discrete FX units each featuring 90 types of effects which can be used in series or parallel and there are 4 busses for routing sounds through the effects.

Wave ROM gives 6MB, RAM offers 0.5MB of waveforms, memory is expandable up to 3.5MB.

The MIDI synth has a 16-part multitimbrality. There’s an LCD screen for 40 characters and 2 lines. Switch between the modes with the help of a 5x5 mode selection matrix. The front panel is represented with pitch/mod wheels, 8 slide controls for real time adjustment.
