Pioneer released DDJ-SR in October 2014, introducing it as the most compact and portable controller to use with Serato DJ. Among the entire DDJ series, it is the "golden mean". On its surface there are 2 large silvery platters, 8 pads under each of them. The front side is made of a metal plate with a clear marking of all functions. The rest of the device consists of rigid plastic, which looks quite reliable.
DDJ-SR works via a USB connection to the computer, and comes with the full version of Serato DJ.
As in any traditional controller DJ, the platters are of paramount importance. There they have a 15 cm diameter, and very good resistance when scrolling and scratching. The 2-channel mixer includes an equalizer section with knobs: trim, high, medium, low-cut, low-pass (LPF, HPF) filter. It's worth noting that it does not have the ability to work in a standalone mode, so these parameters control the process in Serato DJ.
In the lower blocks below the platters there are 8 velocity sensitive pads with 4 buttons on each side, which are necessary for the nice performance. Hot Cue, Roll, Slicer allows you to instantly jump to any part of the song, cut samples for looping, or so-called "stuttering", and Sampler allows you to download personal samples to the available 8 cells.
The rear of the DDJ-SR has a master output with 2 1/4 (6.3 cm) connectors, and a 1/4 monitor output with a switch from the monitors to the master. In addition, there is a USB input, as well as an AUX input.
