The DDJ line by Pioneer DJ went through a lot of updates, but DDJ-RZX controller became the "all-seeing eye", because it is the only video controller from the entire series. First of all, DDJ-RZX has 3 touch screens, which display information about the track, BPM, effects. It combines the functions of the predecessors NXS2, DJM, DDJ-RZ, directly interacts with the virtual Rekordbox DJ software, and also has an exclusive "Plus Rack". The latter allows you to edit video and image files, and then play them back and mix them. In addition, you can add text in the video, create a slideshow, or connect a digital camera to display the video series. Meanwhile, the crossfader allows you to connect 2 videos, and then process them through the "Touch FX". This small addition is intended for experimental live performances.
The 4-channel DDJ-RZX mixer has 3-band EQs per channel, 2 faders for pitch change, and 2 platters with an adjustable feel from light to heavy, and switching between normal and "vinyl" modes. It can work both in a standalone mode, and in integration with Rekordbox DJ.
DDJ-RZX can also be connected to CDJ, XDJ series controllers, and even to the turntables via 6 inputs. The small section "OSC Sampler", placed to the left of the right-hand side of the board, offers the user four types of sounds: noise, sine, siren and horn.
Compared to its predecessors, DDJ-RZX has an extended effect section "Sound Color FX", which stores: Crush, Pitch, Filter, Dub Echo, Space, and the rest are hidden under the Hot Cue, Pad FX, Slicer, Sampler buttons.
Each of them has special properties, so, in the first section there are the previously described buttons "Crush", "Pitch", "Filter", responsible for bitcrushing, pitch, and LPF filter. "Space" means reverb, and "Dub Echo" applies the slight amount of delay. They can also be used with the "Sampler Repeat" function, located on one of the screens. It represents the XY axis, where X - changes the sequence, and Y - adds the above effects. For buttons located above the pads, a completely different role is assigned. The first allows you to split the track into several parts, and assign them to the pads, "Pad FX" creates a stuttering effect, and "Slicer" cuts the track into separate elements.
