Kross 88 borrowed the step sequencer from Electribe, and incorporates a 16-track MIDI sequencer, a drum track, and an arpeggiator.
The PCM data exceeds the memory allocated to individual tones in X50 and PS60 models being almost twice as large. The keyboard ships with 112 MB preset PCM memory. Rock/jazz organ, strings, brass, and synth sounds were resculpted and some accurately mastered toy piano, accordion, combo organ, church organ sounds, as well as vintage instruments such as a tape sampler and bell-type sounds were added. Korg’s premium instruments gave Kross the EDS-i (Enhanced Definition Synthesis – integrated) sound engine with up to 7 simultaneous effects.
Kross 88 has an 88-note NH (Natural Weighted Hammer Action) velocity sensitive keyboard. Maximum polyphony can be up to 80 voices in a single mode. Stereo multisamples are supported and two multi-mode filters with four types of routing are available. The 16-part multitimbral instrument offers a polyphonic arpeggiator, step sequencer, Drum Track with 700 patterns, 16-track MIDI sequencer and audio recorder. The unit has 1 slot for a 2 GB SD Memory Card maximum (32 GB SDHC Memory Card maximum).
